Announcing his retirement, Shikhar Dhawan said, "I had only one goal in life, to play for India. I was successful in achieving this milestone, for which I am thankful to many people. Why is Shikhar Dhawan called Gabbar?

Shikhar Dhawan himself revealed in an interview why he is called 'Gabbar'. In an interview given to Sportstak, Shikhar Dhawan said, "I was playing in Ranji Trophy and was standing at silly point. When a big partnership was made between the other team, all the players were getting disappointed. In such a situation, I shouted, 'Bahut yaarana hai sugar ke bachche' and everyone started laughing loudly. Our coach (Vijay) named me Gabbar from there. From there, this name became so famous that cricket fans all over the world now call me Gabbar."
