Washington: The US has decided to send additional weapons worth US$125 million to Ukraine to help it in the war against Russia. The White House has given this information. The White House said that the additional military aid being sent to Ukraine includes much-needed air defence systems, anti-tank weapons and radars that help detect and destroy enemy shells. 

This is how Ukraine is using weapons.

National Security Spokesperson John Kirby said that Ukraine is using the weapons provided by the US to retaliate against Russia in accordance with the policies of the Biden administration. The Biden administration has allowed Ukraine to use these weapons in retaliation against Russia in the border areas. Still, it cannot target targets located in the interior of the country with these weapons. However, it has not been clarified how far these weapons can be used to attack targets located.

It is also worth noting that the US has announced additional military aid for Ukraine at a time when Kiev has launched its biggest attack on Russian soil since the war began in February 2022. Ukraine has attacked Russia's Kursk region, due to which Moscow has had to declare an emergency. Russia has sent additional military forces to Kursk. 

How much has America helped

The latest US military aid sent to Ukraine includes Stinger missiles, 155 mm and 105 mm shells, ammunition used in the 'High Mobility Artillery Rocket System' (HIMARS) and armored vehicles. The US has so far provided a total of US$55.6 billion in aid to Kiev since Russia attacked Ukraine without provocation in February 2022. (AP)
