A Foreign Ministry spokesperson told PTI that all decisions regarding the interim government must respect democratic principles, the rule of law and the will of the people of Bangladesh. "We understand that Nobel laureate Muhammad Yunus has agreed to lead the interim government of Bangladesh. We stand ready to work with the interim government as it plans a democratic future for the people of Bangladesh," the spokesperson said in response to a question. Yunus on Wednesday appealed to all to "maintain peace" and "refrain from all forms of violence" to make the best use of the "new victories".

Indian-American lawmaker Raja Krishnamurthy has condemned the recent violence in Bangladesh, including targeting of Hindus. He said that the interim government should end the unrest across the country and punish the culprits. Krishnamurthy said in a statement on Wednesday, "As Bangladesh prepares to swear in its interim government, I urge all government officials, the new administration and the police chief and the people of Bangladesh to make every effort to end the violence across the country. In this violence, the country's Hindu minorities, their homes, businesses and temples were brutally targeted." Democratic Party leader Hakim Jeffries said that he is very worried and saddened by the incidents of violence, death of people and human rights violations in Bangladesh in the last few weeks.
