After accepting the candidature, Kamala Harris has become the second woman leader of the Democratic Party to become a presidential candidate.

'This is a chance to move forward as Americans'

Kamala Harris said that she will become a president who will unite the people of the country. She said that the upcoming presidential election is an opportunity to create a new path. This is an opportunity to move forward not as a member of any one party or faction, but as Americans.

"I accept the candidature"

"On behalf of the people, on behalf of every American, regardless of party, race, or language, on behalf of my mother and all those who began her impossible journey, on behalf of the Americans I grew up with, who work hard, pursue their dreams, and care for one another, on behalf of all those whose stories can only be written in the greatest nation on earth, I accept the nomination," Harris said.

Kamala clarified her stand on Russia-Ukraine war

Harris (59), who came on the stage to accept the candidature at the 'United Center' in Chicago, said that impossible journeys are nothing new for her. Harris said that her rival Donald Trump is not a calm and serious person. Expressing her commitment to support Ukraine in the war with Russia, she said that if she is elected president, she will stand firmly with Ukraine and its allies of the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO). Harris's mother Shyamala Gopalan was Indian and her father Donald Jasper Harris was a citizen of Jamaica. If Harris is elected, she will be the first woman President of America.
